Federal prosecutors played this clip in court in an attempt to keep Galante behind bars without bail as his case progressed. The judge, however, agreed to release the New Fairfield resident on $2 million bail. In the clip, Galante is talking with an employee, Ciro Viento. The government says the clip has Galante giving instructions to Viento to contact Richard Brosal, president of the United Hockey League. At the time, Galante owned the Danbury Trashers, a UHL hockey team. A hockey referee had lodged a complaint against Galante, claiming the team owner struck him after a hockey game. Federal prosecutors said Galante wanted the referee to withdraw his complaint.
