The Coalition is a new political party that believes that LARGE BUILDINGS will bring “vitality” to downtown Westport. This will lead to more traffic congestion and take away the small town character of Westport.
One Coalition candidate is ON THE RECORD as supporting SIX STORY BUILDINGS in downtown Westport! (See the Amendment #637 file in the P&Z office.)
Another Coalition candidate who supports large buildings downtown said: “We all want charm and diversity, but that doesn’t mean it has to be small.” (LWV debate, Oct. 2015) But, MOST WESTPORTERS WANT TO KEEP OUR DOWNTOWN SMALL!
The Democratic candidate also wants BIGGER BUILDINGS. At the recent LWV debate, he said “limitation of size [buildings downtown] throttles growth.” (Oct. 2015)
Our opponents’ lawn signs say: “A P&Z for all.” Sounds good? But they should really say: “A P&Z FOR ALL DEVELOPERS!” The rest of us want to keep Westport’s small town character!
